Special Weather Statement

Significant cooling late in the day.
A wintery air mass and brisk winds will bring unseasonably cold weather.
Roads could rapidly become very icy late late in the afternoon or in the evening. A cold front will move across these regions, causing temperatures to swiftly drop several degrees. Roads, still wet in many areas, may suddenly become very icy and very slippery. As a result, driving conditions could suddenly become hazardous on untreated roads.
Also, these conditions will generate unseasonably cold windchill values over much of the province on Wednesday. Wind chill values will reach -20 to -30 depending on the region.
This evening, surfaces such as highways, streets, sidewalks and parking lots could become icy, slippery and treacherous.
Tonight and Wednesday, anyone who is not dressed warmly enough could suffer frostbite. Please dress appropriately.

ok, das war der Teaser. Wie sieht die Realität aus? Gut, es ist kalt. Vor allem für die Jahreszeit, aber, im Moment sind wir bei mir am Aussenthermometer, bei ca. - 7 Grad. Es ist 20 Uhr Abends. Am Chalet hat es womöglich - 15. Gut. Das ist schon relativ kalt für die Jahreszeit, selbst für hiesige Verhältnisse. Vor allem hat es aber einen entscheidenden Nachteil: ich kann das Bier nicht mehr draussen kühl stellen da zu kalt und ausserdem ist mir heute morgen das Schloß vom Fahrrad eingefroren.
Aber ansonsten? Nix außergergewöhnliches. Ich war heute morgen viel zu warm angezogen und habe in der Metro geschwitzt wie Schwein.
Der entscheidende Aspekt ist aber der sogenannte "Windchill". Das hat mir der kanadische Winter gelehrt.
Also, - 20 Grad Celsius trockene Kälte, bei Sonnenschein und Windstille, ist eine, relativ, angenehme Sache, kein Problem. Aber: - 20 Grad Celsius feuchte Kälte bei starken Wind, ist eine Andere - dann wird es tatsächlich gefährlich denn dann können schnell Erfrierungen auftreten.
Und deshalb führe ich auch - WOIMMER ich auch bin - Kopf- und Gesichtsschutz mit mir. IMMER.
